Study Options
Our flexible study options focus on the individual modules and courses that make up our diplomas.
Overview
Flexible study means you can enrol in just one or more individual modules from our diploma qualifications. These usually range between 3 and 10 weeks in length.
Flexible study is a great option if you want to:
- ‘Try before you buy’, and start with one or two modules before enrolling full-time next year.
- Invest in upskilling for your current work or ministry.
- Combine short-term travel to beautiful Tauranga with a time of spiritual enrichment.
- Boost your biblical and ministry understanding, without committing to a full diploma.
Definitions
Diploma – The entire qualification, awarded upon completion of all required courses.
Course – This is an entire ‘class’, for which credit is given. To graduate with a qualification, all required courses must be completed. Courses have a two-letter, three-number code. E.g. TH501.
Module – A distinct component of a course, that focuses on a specific topic. Each module is usually taught by a separate teacher. Modules do not carry credit value on their own. Modules have a fourth number after the course code. E.g. TH501.1.

Enrolment Types
Following are the available enrolment types.
You enrol in a full diploma or course, accredited by NZQA, and receive official credit for completion.
You do the same work as a credit student (assessments, etc.). SPBC will track your completion of the module learning requirements. If you later decide to complete the whole course, this work can be credited via recognition of prior learning. You will receive a Certificate of Recognition at graduation.
You attend classes, but don’t do any coursework. You won’t receive any credit for this option.
